About NCSO
The North Coast Symphony Orchestra is a nonprofit community orchestra based in the northern San Diego County coastal region.
The goal of the North Coast Symphony Orchestra is to bring classical music to everyone - young and old alike. We do this by offering a variety of programs such as choral groups, instrumental soloists, and special offerings that appeal to students. Five programs are offered each year, with performances at concert venues in Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside, and other North County locations. Most of the music played by the orchestra is standard classical literature. Lighter fare is played at a pops concert held near the end of July and a holiday concert held in December.
The orchestra is composed of local amateur and professional musicians. Members often play solos, concertos, and quartets. The orchestra has also had guest artists and performed joint concerts with choruses. Occasionally our concerts have very focused themes.
The orchestra is funded in part by the City of Encinitas, ticket sales, and donations, and has received grants from the County of San Diego..
